The battery is one of the most important systems on an e-bike, but good care does not require complicated routines. The basic priorities are using the correct charger, avoiding physical damage and keeping the battery away from extreme heat, water ingress and unsuitable storage conditions.

Charge the battery in a dry, ventilated area on a stable, non-flammable surface. Use the charger specified for the battery and inspect the cable, plug and charging port before connecting. Stop using equipment that shows swelling, unusual heat, impact damage, corrosion or a persistent unusual smell, and ask a qualified service provider to inspect it.

For storage, follow the manufacturer’s recommended charge level and inspection interval. Do not leave the battery where temperatures can become extreme, such as inside a closed vehicle in direct sun. If the battery is removable, secure its contacts from metal objects and make sure it is locked correctly when returned to the bicycle.

Before longer rides, confirm that the battery is firmly installed and that the displayed charge level is reasonable for the planned distance. Range varies with temperature, rider weight, terrain, tire pressure, speed and assist level, so practical planning should always include a reserve rather than relying only on a maximum-range claim.
